Straw Marquetry

One of the finishes we are proud to offer at Normandie Woodworks is straw marquetry. Straw is a versatile material that offers endless possibilities for adding color, texture, and character to any interior. This traditional technique uses rye grass, which is dyed, split, flattened, and applied by hand to create any number of different patterns. 

Designers throughout history have used straw to cover everything from decorative objects and furniture, to walls, ceilings, and even entire rooms. Its versatility of color, pattern, and form allow for seemingly limitless possibilities giving this unique material incredible potential for modern design.
